Striking Against Mental Health Bylaws
1.) Mission Statement:
Dedicated to serving the mental health community and bowling community by fostering camaraderie, respect, and knowledge through the universal sport of bowling. Striking Against Mental Health provides support and opportunities for personal growth, engagement, and knowledge. Our organization believes that through the unity of bowling, it promotes physical well-being, community closeness, and encourage the meaning of life-long connections among the mental health and bowling community.
2.) Purpose & Goal:
Striking Against Mental Health is created to help individuals within the Colorado Springs community to afford mental health services one tournament at a time. Our goal is to also increase the importance and knowledge of mental health throughout the bowling community one strike at a time.
3.) All those that participate in the Striking Against Mental Health (SAMH) tournaments must be a USBC card holder and participate in a sanctioned league (Fall/Winter and/or Summer) to establish an average with a minimum of 21 games or more.
4.) All USBC dues MUST be paid to participate in any Striking Against Mental Health event.
5.) Donations are not required by participants but are encouraged. Any donations of $100 or more that are made to Striking Against Mental Health will include a free jersey with the Striking Against Mental Health logo.
6.) Additional merchandise such as jersey’s, shammies, and towels can be sold upon pre-payment. These items will also include the Striking Against Mental Health Logo. Prices vary depending on the item/product.
7.) All participants and board members are expected to provide respect and courtesy towards everyone. Any board members who are in violation of the by-laws will be voted on for suspension and/or termination. The board will vote on what the outcome will be.
8.) The number of board of directors will include four (4) individuals; Mariah Tipton-Hamilton (President), Aitana Sloniker (Vice President), Mikayla Talbott (Treasurer), and Harmonie Trenn (Networking Manager).
9.) The responsibilities and duties of the board members include:
a. President:
o Scheduling future tournaments
o Registering the tournament through USBC
o Work with the Vice President to decide on tournament oil patterns
o Work with the Vice President to decide tournament pay-outs
o Create tournament fliers
o Network with local bowling centers to schedule tournaments
o Gather volunteers for tournament brackets and 50/50 raffle tickets
o Conduct tournament announcements
o Create financial report
b. Vice President:
o Work with the President to decide on tournament oil pattern
o Work with the President to decide tournament pay-outs
o Verifying tournament averages
o Enforce tournament dress code
o Work with the President to schedule future tournaments for the year.
c. Treasurer:
o Gather tournament fees
o Verify and conduct financial report
o Verify amounts and provide receipts regarding donations made to Striking Against Mental Health
o Verify amounts and provide receipts regarding what has been donated to mental health practitioners/businesses.
o Conduct yearly audits.
d. Networking Manager:
o Create and develop products that can be sold to participants which includes but is not limited to: Shammies and bowling jerseys.
o Provide secretary receipts for products purchased.
o Network with other bowling centers/alleys and pro-shops for potential sponsorship and/or donations.
All board members are responsible for running future and upcoming tournaments, making sure brackets are ran throughout the entirety of the tournament, USBC rules and regulations are followed throughout the entirety of the tournament, and the following mission statement, purpose and goals are followed.
10.) A meeting with all board members will occur at the end of the tournament year (December). Meetings will review the past tournament year, any changes that need to be applied and develop the tournament schedule for the next year.
11.) Emergency meetings will need to follow a 72-hour notice.
12.) Yearly audits will be mandatory and will be conducted by the secretary (Mikayla Talbott).
13.) Striking Against Mental Health will have records of tournament information which includes number of participants, tournament pattern, a tournament report (total income, total expenses, and pay-out), and tournament flyer.
14.) Requests for changes towards the bylaws may be made through the president by a written statement. An emergency meeting will be held and any changes towards the bylaws will be voted by the board members.
